‘Burns’ll fight again’

Burns will fight again “one million per cent” despite suffering a
broken jaw in his controversial draw with Raymundo Beltran, according to
the WBO lightweight champion’s manager Alex Morrison.
On Saturday, Burns fortuitously retained
his world title despite being on the back foot for most of his bout
with Beltran. The Scot suffered a broken jaw in the second round when he
was caught by a vicious left hook, but gingerly saw out the remaining
ten rounds.
Burns endured surgery on the injury which resulted in him having titanium plates inserted into his jaw.
When asked about the state of his fighter, promoter Eddie Hearn expressed concern on whether the 30-year-old would fight again.
However Morrison, who also witnessed his
fighter get knocked to the canvas in the eighth round, insists Burns
will return to the ring and states a rematch with Beltran is an option.
“Ricky will definitely fight again, one million per cent,” Morrison told BBC Scotland. “I spoke to him this morning and he is definitely coming back, although when that will be, we don’t know.”
