Real Sociedad - Bayer Leverkusen Betting Preview: Why at least four goals look likely
A
Our man in Spain, Phil Kitromilides, expects the
thus-far-disappointing Spanish outfit to bow out of the Champions League
with a high-scoring game against the Bundesliga side
After an extremely disappointing European campaign which has
seen them pick up just a solitary point from their five matches, Real
Sociedad have only pride for which to play in their last Champions
League match against Bayer Leverkusen. Pride, however, is something that the Basques have in abundance and, while the Germans still have hopes of making the knockout stages, there is no reason to expect La Real to simply stand back and let their opponents triumph. Bet365 price a home win at 3/1 (4.00) while Leverkusen are offered at 17/20 (1.85). The draw trades at 11/4 (3.75).
Domestically, the Germans are flying, with Sami Hyypia's side second in the table six points clear of third-placed Borussia Dortmund and keeping on the tails of the seemingly unstoppable champions Bayern Munich.
Their last European game, however, saw them thrashed 5-0 at home by Manchester United and their Champions League campaign this season has been charaterised by extreme results.
That thashing was preceded by a 0-0 at Shakhtar Donetsk and a 4-0 win over the Ukranians.
It would seem that Bayer either turn up in style or not at all and, on Tuesday, they really need a win.
The goals market, therefore, should be popular, although the price of 4/7 (1.57) for both teams to score is too small for us to consider.
Likewise, the odds of 13/20 (1.65) for over 2.5 goals are unappealing for a single selection for the majority of punters, yet the 13/8 (2.62) for over 3.5 goals is worth considering.
This bet has paid out in three of Leverkusen's Champions League group games so far, as well as in four of La Real's last five Primera Division matches.
The Basques are an attacking side, while the Germans need to go for the win, an equation which could ensure that we see plenty of goals at Anoeta.
