West Brom boss Steve Clarke: We've got to bag some wins

STEVE Clarke admits West Brom are in a real battle for survival.

The Baggies have suffered three straight defeats and won just one of their last nine, leaving them languishing just two points above the drop zone.

Clarke’s men are 15th, one place and one point above today’s hosts Cardiff.

But even though they are in trouble, the Baggies boss insists they have the quality to drag themselves to safety.

Clarke said: “Are we in a relegation battle? If you look at the table, of course, we are.

“I think more than us are in the relegation battle, though. It is too early to say that we are stuck down there.

“But at the moment you have to be realistic and say it would be nice to start winning a few games and target the teams above us.

“We don’t put our head under a pillow and not look at the situation, we understand the situation perfectly.

“What we are focused on this week is making sure we get back to winning ways”

“You have to win games. It is an industry that says you have to win. So three defeats in a row, whether it comes over a three-week period or whether it comes over a week, is still three defeats.
“What we are focused on this week is making sure we get back to winning ways.
“If you said to me we would go to Cardiff, play terribly and win I’d be delighted, because it’s a week to get results.”

The Baggies boss fears he could be punished today by the striker he branded a lunatic, with Peter Odemwingie set to come up against his old club for the first time since his summer exit.
Clarke claimed Odemwingie’s failed attempt to drive through a deadline-day move to QPR last season was “utter lunacy”.
Deal
He said: “It is possible he could score, he is a goalscorer.
“That is his position and when former players play against you, that’s what can happen.
“If he is selected, we will have to deal with him the same, as we have to deal with anybody else.”
