Earlier this week, it was revealed that Solskjaer delayed contract talks with Molde over a contract extension to consider his options in the future and now that the West Brom job is available, his name has been thrown into the mix.
As a player, his talent was unquestionable and so far in his short managerial career, Solskjaer has enjoyed geat success.
He previously helped Manchester United’s Academy to the FA Youth Cup and in three years as manager of Molde, he delivered their first Norwegian league title, backed it up with a second one and also won the Norwegian Cup this year.
Solskjaer has got the resume of a winner to match his mentality and there is every chance he could be a great success at West Brom like he has been with Molde. A likeable personality with a firm side when necessary, Solskjaer’s got great man management skills.
It would just depend on whether the Baggies board wanted someone with real experience or a fresh face at the club.
Clarke had been assistant manager at Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool before he joined West Brom so he had plenty of experience but coupled with his performance last year, it wasn’t enough to save his job. That indicates they may well be looking for someone young and fresh to kick start their season – step forward Solskjaer.
