Arsenal's Jack Wilshere in hot water with FA
JACK WILSHERE is set to be hit with a one-match ban after making an obscene gesture to Manchester City fans on Saturday.
The Arsenal midfielder, 21, was seen sticking
his middle finger up to home supporters as Arsenal lost 6-3 to Manuel
Pellegrini’s title rivals.
The FA will now take
action by charging Wilshere with improper conduct and the subsequent
suspension means he will miss his side’s crunch showdown with Chelsea at
the Emirates Stadium a week today.
Referee Martin Atkinson plans to file his official match report to the FA today and is expected to include the incident.
But even if the Yorkshire official does not mention Wilshere’s rude gesture, the FA still have the power to charge him.“If he did it and he’s banned, we will have to accept it”Arsene Wenger
And Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said: “If he did it and he’s banned, we will have to accept it.”
Meanwhile, Mesut Ozil has apologised after team-mate Per Mertesacker berated him for not acknowledging the Arsenal fans at the Etihad Stadium.
Ozil said: “Sorry I didn’t thank the fans at the end of the game!”
