Michael Laudrup strikes it lucky
MICHAEL LAUDRUP has been handed a double fitness boost ahead of the visit of Hull tonight.
Swansea’s injured strike pair Michu and
Wilfried Bony both trained yesterday morning and have a chance of being
involved at the Liberty Stadium.
Laudrup is
without fellow forward Alvaro Vazquez until January following the groin
injury he picked up against Newcastle last week. But although Michu and
Bony are expected to start on the bench against Steve Bruce’s side,
Swansea’s striker crisis has eased significantly in the last 24 hours.
Spanish hitman Michu has not figured since November 3 against Cardiff due to ankle and knee injuries.
And
club-record £12m signing Bony has missed the last two games due to a
pulled hamstring. With that in mind, midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo is
expected to lead the line in a makeshift forward role.
But
Swans boss Laudrup reckons the timely comeback of his star duo is
enough to put him off any panic buying in the January transfer window.
He said: “We have three strikers. It’s a coincidence that all three of them are injured right now.
“Hopefully they will all be back in a very short time and we will have three again to choose from.“We have three strikers. It’s a coincidence that all three of them are injured right now”Michael Laudrup
“There could be moments this season where you are a man down in a certain position.
“But that is not a reason why you should bring in three or four new players. They will be back.
“You can’t just buy six forwards thinking maybe there will be a couple of games during the season when four of them are injured.
“I don’t know what we will do in January as I don’t know what will happen.
“You have to prepare the squad and I am very satisfied with my squad right now.
“I just want them to come back fit so I choose from everybody.
“Normally that should be enough.”
