Steven Gerrard says Liverpool's good start has carried over for England

STEVEN GERRARD has admitted that Liverpool's flying start to the season has helped him to approach his England duties with confidence and a smile on his face.

Gerrard claims he no longer gets nervous before an England came, and instead just feels excited and he is particularly looking forward to Tuesday's match against Poland that could see the Three Lions qualify for the World Cup in Brazil.

Speaking to official England partner William Hill Gerrard also shed some light on exactly what an England captain does for the team, saying his main role is to lead by example and help the manager to communicate his ideas both before and during the game.
