Sturridge talks up Suarez 'chemistry'
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge insists that his partnership with
Luiz Suarez is good on and off the pitch and is one of the reasons why
the club have started the season so well.
Sturridge and Suarez have contributed five of Liverpool's last six
goals in their last two Premier League games against Sunderland and
Crystal Palace and, with the Uruguayan back in the fold after completing
his eight-match ban, Sturridge believes the Reds can only get better.
"He's a nice guy and we have great chemistry on the field, and we get on well off it so it's good," Sturridge told Life and Times.
"It's easier when you've got somebody like Luis, who can help you share the goals out, and we've also got the likes of Steven Gerrard and Victor Moses who can pitch in. So there are goals throughout the team. Hopefully we can continue with the form we've got at the moment."
Liverpool currently sit second in the Premier League table -- only behind Arsenal on Goals Scored -- and Sturridge believes manager Brendan Rodgers has installed a winning mentality in the squad.
"It's not intense but there's a strong desire for success and everybody wants to help Liverpool get back to the winning ways that they had in the past and that's up to us," he added. "Everybody wants to have success. It's not about getting by and being content with second or third.
"It's about having a winning mentality and that's something the manager's instilled in us now, where everybody's got that feeling to want to win every game."
Rodgers played down expectations of a title success last week and Sturridge concedes that the team can only focus on what is ahead of them: "I just think that there’s always going to be expectations from people on the outside who look and see the good start we’ve had, but I guess that we’ve just got to focus on our job and not worry about what everyone else is doing or saying and see where we are at the end of the season."
