Manchester United To Be Without Midfielder Marouane Fellaini Until Christmas
by Ron CarneManchester United midfield player Marouane Fellaini is set to risk further aggravating his current wrist injury by turning out for Belgium in their upcoming Fifa World Cup qualifying double header, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
The Belgium international was unable to feature for the Premier League champions in their 2-1 win over Sunderland in the top flight at the Stadium of Light on Saturday evening due to the problem, with Fellaini instead going to see a specialist in Manchester about the injury.
However, after being assessed by Belgium’s medical staff on Monday, the 25-year-old has now been given the all clear to play against Croatia on Friday and then Wales a week on Tuesday, as Marc Wilmots’s side go in search of the point that they need in order to ensure qualification for next summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.
But after those two fixtures, Fellaini is then set to be out of action for the next two months of United’s season, which will come as a huge blow to both the player himself, as well as new United head coach David Moyes, after the Scot brought the giant attacker to Old Trafford from Everton for £27.5 million on transfer deadline day.
“He’s going to see a specialist,” confirmed Moyes. “It doesn’t sound too good but we’ll wait and find out on Monday.”
