Chelsea morning news: Mourinho eyes Serbian striker, Luiz reveals Barca tactics
A round up of the key news stories about Chelsea this morning.
The Metro has reported that Chelsea are considering a huge offer for the player, which would likely be made this January or next summer.
The Serbian international only moved to the Portuguese club this summer from Partizan Belgrade which means it will need a very good deal to force him away from his new club.
Defender David Luiz has revealed that key Barcelona players were deployed to try and talk him into a move over the summer.
The centre back has since confirmed that he snubbed an approach from the Spanish champions as he focuses on a successful season and winning some silverware with the Blues.
“Dani Alves and Neymar were sent to try to convince me to sign, but I was clear with them I was staying. It was not Chelsea’s decision, it was mine,” he told the Daily Express.
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has admitted that he backed out of a battle with Petr Cech to keep his hopes alive of making the World Cup next summer.
The Belgian has revealed that Chelsea desperately wanted to keep him at the club, rather than see him go for another loan spell with Atletico Madrid.
“I could have gone back to Chelsea and it may have worked out perfectly, but then again I may not have been playing and could have risked losing my starting place with the national team. It would have been a risk for the World Cup,” said the 21-year-old.
