Barcelona are self-destructive, claims Mascherano
The Argentine believes the Camp Nou side should
enjoy their successes rather than constantly look for negatives in their
displays
The Catalans have enjoyed phenomenal success in recent seasons and have already claimed the Supercopa de Espana this season, yet Mascherano believes his side can bee too critical of their own triumphs - even when they equalled the Liga points record when securing the 2012-13 title.
"Barca have a tendency to be a little self-destructive at times," Mascherano told RAC1. "There always seems to be a but...
"The team won the league, registering 100 points in the process, and yet it seems as though it’s not a great achievement.
"The feeling now is that even though we won the Supercopa, we were not at our best. It’s fair to say that we could have played much better, but at least we won and that's what really matters."
Barcelona beat Atletico Madrid on the away goals rule to win the Supercopa de Espana after a 1-1 draw at Vicente Calderon and a 0-0 stalemate at Camp Nou.
