Man Utd made shock bid for Barcelona superstar Messi

Manchester United made enquiries after Barcelona star Lionel Messi earlier this year, it has been revealed.
AS says United made a bid to sign Messi, only for the Barcelona forward to reject their approach.
Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain also made an offer for the Argentine's services, but the forward declined all three clubs in hope of a new deal with the Spanish giants.

The possibility of the 26-year-old quitting the Nou Camp is looking more likely than ever after Barcelona vice-president Javier Faus rejected the prospect of upgrading his contract.
"We do not have to renew Messi's contract every 6 months. There is no reason to do it," Faus said.
