David Moyes drives Rio Ferdinand mad over team selection announcements
RIO FERDINAND has risked incurring the wrath of David Moyes by suggesting his late team selection announcements turn him into “a madman”.
Veteran defender
Ferdinand says not knowing if he is playing for Manchester United until
the day of the game affects his preparation and drains nervous energy.
He said: “This manager’s a bit different in that he doesn’t name the
team beforehand. The old manager [Sir Alex Ferguson] used to give you a
little bit of an idea if you’d be playing.
“It’s
hard because you spend a lot of nervous energy thinking, ‘Am I
playing?’ and you’re just going round in circles in your head and
turning into a madman.”
Moyes responded by saying: “ Sometimes a lot of managers leave it so the media don’t get the teams too early.”
To
add to Moyes’ woes, winger Wilfried Zaha has been forced to call for an
end to rumours his absence from the first team is down to an alleged
relationship with the manager’s daughter.
Zaha said on Twitter: “I’ve never even met David Moyes’ daughter.”
