The Belgium international defender has made just six appearances for the Premier League leaders so far this season, with Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker Wenger's preferred centre-back partnership.

But the Frenchman is impressed by the way Vermaelen, 28, has dealt with his lack of opportunities. He said: "Thomas has handled it with dignity and professionalism.
"I'm not concerned that he might move because if he wants to do that he will come and see me, which he has not done."
