REVEALED: Manchester United DID make bid to sign Mesut Ozil

MANCHESTER UNITED failed in an 11th-hour bid to sign Mesut Ozil on transfer deadline day.

Ozil left Real Madrid to join Arsenal for a club-record transfer fee of £42.5m - but desperate United were trying to gatecrash the deal.

David Moyes' brother Kenny - a football agent - was frantically trying to contact Ozil's representatives to try and lure him to United.

In the end they were told Ozil's mind had already been made up, according to the Manchester Evening News.

A source said: “United made a call. Kenny Moyes, David's brother who is an agent, was trying desperately to get hold of Ozil's agent. I think that by the time they managed it it was too late.”

United ended up spending £27.5m on Everton midfielder Marourane Fellaini.
Ozil, meanwhile, has helped the Gunners to the top of the league.
