Chelsea defender Gary Cahill says the England team are desperate to impress in the World Cup qualifiers coming on the back of three friendlies.
Without a competitive international for six months, Roy Hodgson's men get back to business with a Wembley showdown against Moldova on Friday and a trip to Ukraine four days later.

"We've had friendlies lately that have been big in their own right, but these are the really important games coming up and the lads are aware of that," Cahill said.

"These are the games when we are under pressure to go out and get wins. Hopefully we can get a result on Friday to lead us into the next game. People might look at the result and think we'll win 5-0, but if we win 1-0 will that be a bad result?

"Of course not, that'll be a positive result leading into the second game. We must show them a lot of respect and go out and do the job people expect us to do, try and play as well as we can and get the win.
"Ultimately we want to win the game, if we can do that then that will be great."

England trail Group H leaders Montenegro by two points with a game in hand and Cahill is determined maximum points are acquired ahead of their tricky visit to Kiev to face a team just a point behind with four games remaining.

The 27-year-old Chelsea centre-half defender insisted last month's win over Scotland, as well as the draw away in Brazil, had given the team a huge boost.

"When I was first in the squad I was over in Ukraine and it was a hostile atmosphere, so I expect something similar this time," he added.

"But we're focused on the game on Friday, looking at their strengths and weaknesses. If we got the two wins we'll be in a real good position and confidence wise we'll be on our way.

"Away in Brazil, it's a tough place to go, and we got a draw and could have won it, followed by a win at home. There's confidence going into these game, with points up for grabs hopefully that will lift us and we can do the job."
