Manchester United’s David De Gea Lined Up By Barcelona As Victor Valdes Replacement

Spanish shot-stopper wanted by La Liga champions.
Manchester United’s Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea is one of two main targets for Barcelona as they seek a replacement for Victor Valdes next season, according to the Daily Mirror.


De Gea has been at United since 2011 after signing from Atletico Madrid, where he impressed previous manager Sir Alex Ferguson as a great prospect in the game, and after initially struggling to reproduce that form in England he has become a key player for the Red Devils as well.

However, Barcelona feel they may be able to tempt him back to La Liga next summer, as they eye a long-term replacement for Valdes in goal, with the long-serving shot-stopper set to leave the Nou Camp when his current contract runs out at the end of this campaign.


Chelsea’s Petr Cech is also believed to be a target, with the Czech Republic international’s place possibly coming under threat when promising youngster Thibaut Courtois returns to the club from a loan spell with de Gea’s old side Atletico Madrid, where he has done a great job of replacing the Spaniard.
