Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has backed new loan signing Victor Moses to make a good impression at Liverpool after finding himself out-of-favour at Chelsea, the Daily Telegraph is reporting.

Victor Moses

Moses found himself a long way down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge, allowing Liverpool to sign him on a season-long loan on transfer deadline day, bolstering the Reds’ attacking options. The Nigeria international is in line to make his debut at Swansea City on Monday evening.

He became Liverpool’s eighth and final summer signing after goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, defenders Aly Cissokho, Tiago Ilori, Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure, and forwards Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas.

And Rodgers said: “In terms of this summer, it was probably unexpected for him. He's a player that has got experience - he's 24 years of age and became available for us. It's a unique opportunity for him; he's leaving a very good club, that has been successful, and he's coming to one of the biggest clubs in the world.

There are not many players that get a chance to do that. He's coming here to prove himself. I know what I'm getting. He's got the profile that suits our game in terms of his technique, his quality and he's a humble guy.

He had some good performances for Nigeria when he was away [in the last fortnight] and he is really looking forward to getting in a Liverpool shirt.
