Chelsea transfer bid could spark Arsenal bidding war

Chelsea are thought to be considering a move for AS Monaco star Lucas Ocampos, a move which may spark a bidding war between Arsenal and Manchester United for out-of-favour Juan Mata, reports the Daily Star.

Reports in France suggest the Blues were keen on making a bid for the midfielder in the summer, but ended their interest following the capture of Brazilian wide man Willian.
  But now Chelsea are understood to have got in contact with Monaco once more over a potential January switch – a move which could lead to Mata departing Stamford Bridge.

The Spaniard is currently out of favour under Mourinho, and has attracted interest from a host of Premier League rivals, including Arsenal and Manchester United.

Both clubs are monitoring the situation closely, as Jose Mourinho once again confirmed at the weekend that he would continue to favour Brazilian Oscar to the former Valencia man.

“I want to build with Oscar as my No.10. I want the other two players, from the side, to adapt to that reality and learn how to do things they were not ready to do before,” Mourinho said.
“They can (play together), when Mata adapts to it.

“One thing is to play with Ramires and Oscar, them closing each side, and Mata as a No.10 behind a striker, with clever assists, clever passes and fantastic actions, because he has great talent.”

Mata was linked with a possible summer move away from Stamford Bridge. Reports suggesting Mourinho may make an offer for winger Oscampos may spark a bidding war for the 25-year-old from a flurry of clubs at home and abroad.
