The former Rossoneri defender has voiced his frustration with his side's start to the new Serie A season and has admitted that they cannot afford any more mistakes

AC Milan assistant coach Mauro Tassotti has stressed that the Rossoneri cannot afford any more slip-ups this term if they are to challenge for the Scudetto.

The San Siro side have been struggling to find their best form in the opening weeks of the 2013-14 campaign and have already fallen eight points behind Serie A leaders Napoli and Roma.

They are also trailing other title rivals such as Juventus and Inter by six points, much to the dismay of Tassotti.

"We have to start winning to get back into the hunt. However, we have a long road in front of us," the former Italy international told Milan Channel.

"The same thing happened to us last year. It is always difficult to bounce back because we cannot afford anymore slip-ups.

"We have not started the season well and we have dropped points, so we need to get to the bottom of that.

"We cannot keep conceding two goals a game. We have to cut out the errors."

Milan will be looking to return to winning ways on Wednesday when they travel to Bologna.
