Roberto Martinez hoping for big wins with Everton
ROBERTO MARTINEZ aims to end a big-game hoodoo that began more than a decade ago – under his predecessor David Moyes.
During 11 years at Everton, Moyes never tasted victory in 46 Premier League games at Arsenal, United, Chelsea or Liverpool.
Everton’s last league triumph at any of those grounds was a 1-0 win at Anfield in 1999 when Walter Smith was in charge.
Tomorrow fifth-placed Everton head to Moyes’ Manchester United with their confidence high after a 4-0 win over Stoke.
Martinez said: “We have had one defeat in 13 games. The next challenge is to see if we can go to the big places like Old Trafford, the Emirates, Anfield and Stamford Bridge and get wins.“There are many things to achieve on Wednesday away from the scoreline”Roberto Martinez
“That is not going to happen overnight. Probably on Wednesday will be the first step towards achieving that.
“There are many things to achieve on Wednesday away from the scoreline.
“For me, it is about the performance and how we can take that performance into the next games against the big sides.”
