Ibra wants Rooney in Paris: The Sun reports that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is keen on linking up with Wayne Rooney
at Paris Saint-Germain. The French side were ready to swoop for the
England striker over the summer, but a move failed to materialise. The
paper has quotes from the Sweden captain saying he was excited by the
prospect then and urging Rooney to make the move across the Channel if
he still wants a move either in January or next summer.

Chelsea beat big guns to Otamendi signing: Chelsea have beaten Barcelona and AC Milan in the race to sign Porto's Argentine defender Nicolas Otamendi. The Daily Express, citing reports in Spain, claims that the defender is bound for Stamford Bridge after Barca and Milan failed in negotiations for him over the summer.
Paper Round's view: If the reports are to be believed, it raises questions over the future of David Luiz at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian was in-demand on the continent over the summer, and the Otamendi link perhaps suggests that Mourinho is planning for life without him.

German clubs target De Bruyne: Chelsea midfielder is on the radar of Bayer Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen, according to the Daily Mirror. The Belgian was criticised by Blues boss Jose Mourinho after a lacklustre display against Swindon in the League Cup and was subsequently left out of the squad for the Champions League clash against Steaua Bucharest in midweek, alerting the German clubs.
Paper Round's view: Mourinho's reaction to questions over his decision to leave the 22-year-old in London during the week was withering. But that doesn't necessarily mean there has been a falling out or that the player wants to leave. It's now up to him to raise his game. Which is probably exactly what Mourinho was looking for by leaving him out.

Zaha set for United exit on loan: Manchester United are expected to allow Wilfried Zaha to leave on loan during the January transfer window, according to The Times. The paper claims Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City, Everton and Crystal Palace are all willing to offer the 20-year-old regular first-team football.
Paper Round's view: Zaha has made just one appearance since signing for United - in this season's Community Shield - and the way to more appearances seems blocked for the time being. A loan move to another Premier League side would suit all parties - whoever he goes to will benefit for the remainder of the season, Zaha will get the playing time he craves as he bids to win a place in England's World Cup squad, and United will recoup a much better player for the next campaign.

Lineker's on-screen date with Hodgson: The Daily Mirror's back page has the news that Roy Hodgson will come face to face with "arch critic" Gary Lineker on Match of the Day ahead of England's big week ahead. Hodgson will appear as a guest on the show just weeks after host Lineker branded the team's performance against Ukraine “woeful” and "awful" in a series of tweets.
Paper Round's view: Lineker has since backtracked (or "retweeted", as one newspaper headline had it at the time) over his comments so viewers will not necessarily be treated to some kind of showdown between the pair. However, it should prove interesting viewing, not least because it will be the first time a serving England manager has appeared on the couch. Expect Lineker to 'break the ice' early on with a sarcastic comment alluding to their falling out.
