REVEALED: Barcelona star Lionel Messi rejected Manchester United in the summer
REPORTS in Spain have revealed that Manchester
United made a bid to sign Lionel Messi, only for the Barcelona forward
to reject their approach.
Messi has revealed in the past his desire to end his career at Barca, but Spanish newspaper AS claim that the possibility of the 26-year-old quitting the Nou Camp is looking more likely than ever.
There are still four and a half years remaining on Messi's current contract, but the Argentina
international's agent believes his client deserves an improved contract since the arrival of Neymar in the summer, who is the club's highest earner.
"We do not have to renew Messi's contract every 6 months. There is no reason to do it," Faus said.
The Barca chief also declined any chance of selling their prized asset, but AS believe the Catalan side are playing with fire in not fulfilling his wishes.
Manchester City and Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move for Messi in recent weeks, with the January window approaching.
