Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini happy with second-half showing against Swansea
Pellegrini's men claimed another three points at home with a convincing win over Michael Laudrup's League Cup winners
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini was left very happy after a strong second-half showing secured yet another home victiory for his side against Swansea.
Alvaro Negredo's early free-kick and two goals in the second period from the excellent Samir Nasri gave the Citizens a seventh successive home success.
However, the Blues were made to work for the result by Michael Laudrup's charges, who enjoyed the majority of possession during the first period.
The home side improved after the break though and French international Nasri scored twice to put the game beyond the visitors.
And the City boss said he was pleased with how his players responded to the challenge of the Welsh side in the second half.
"It was another clear home win," said Pellegrini.
"We played against a good team. Swansea had a lot of possession, especially in the first half.
"In the second half we made a real difference and we won well in the end. They made it difficult though and I think they have the second best possession record in the league after us.
"In the second half we defended well and scored two more goals, so we are happy.
"The two we scored in the second half were impressive and we hope to improve in our next two games away from home."
Pellegrini also confirmed after the game that skipper Vincent Kompany should be fit for Wednesday's trip to West Brom, as City look to improve on an away record which has seen them take just four points from a possible 18.
