Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs on red alert as Barca man could leave
The reiteration from the Spain Under 21 international is likely to interest a number of Premier League sides, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham all linked with Tello in recent times.
With Lionel Messi, Neymar, Pedro and Alexis Sanchez all vying for places in Barcelona's three man frontline, it was always going to be difficult for Tello to make an impact, and as a result, says he may have to leave the club. Tello also admitted that manager Gerardo Martino visited his house in order to reassure him that his future lies with the Catalan giants.
“I’ll wait to see how this season goes,” he told reporters. “And if by the end of it I don’t play more, then I may have to leave. That will be a difficult step to take though. As the years go by, you want to have more minutes, and I’m no different. Tata met me at home and asked for my patience this season. He’s told me that I’ll get my chance.”
Arsenal aren't in dire need of a winger, with Lukas Podolski, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all set to return from injury in the near future, whilst Spurs brought in a handful of attacking players after the sale of Gareth Bale, with Erik Lamela, Nacer Chadli and Christian Eriksen all brought in. Factor in that Andros Townsend has had a breakout season and a move for Tello seems somewhat unlikely.
However, Liverpool are actively seeking a winger ahead of the January transfer window, and have been linked with a number of players including Andriy Yarmolenko, Yevhen Konoplyanka, Diego Capel and Mohamed Salah, but after negotiating the transfer of Luis Alberto – and possibly Martin Montoya – relations between the two clubs could put Liverpool in pole position to land Tello.
With Gerard Deulofeu also set to return to the Camp Nou after his loan deal with Everton expires, Tello could find himself pushed even further down the pecking order. In order to continue his development, Tello will almost certainly have to leave Barcelona, and a move to England looks likely.
Who should sign Tello?
