Former Manchester United defender lays into Jose Mourinho on his blog

Mourinho Dugout
Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has laid into Jose Mourinho using his Yahoo blog.
Jose Mourinho has taken criticism from many angles so far this season as he tries to work out his best side and get his team performing on all fronts.

Mourinho’s decision making and team handling has been questioned on a weekly basis, which culminated with him walking out of Chelsea’s pre-match press conference ahead of the win against Steaua

Bucharest. What Mourinho is actually trying to do is quite simple. He’s trying to find a settled team and a settled set of tactics to get the best out of that team.

It’s not going to happen over night but it takes a very brave man to question whether Mourinho is really losing the plot.

“Since returning to Chelsea Jose Mourinho's leadership has been far from convincing and he has not managed to get a grip on what his best team really is,” writes Parker
.
There are probably plenty of Chelsea fans who still can’t work out the best side to go with at Stamford Bridge but Mourinho has so many players at his disposal and so many choices, it was always going to be difficult to work out the right combinations.

Parker goes on to suggest that certain players in the side are being punished for showing a close allegiance to former manager Rafa Benitez, sticking with ‘his’ players which is quite frankly ridiculous.

“He is a manager who has his 'own players' and does not appear to be open-minded to others that do not fit into his tried and tested way of doing things. Mata has been a real victim of this way of blinkered thinking,” adds Parker.

It’s not rocket science that any manager who comes in at a top flight club, unsure over his best side, will always stick with the experienced players and the professionals he trusts.

Premier League football is at a stage where any boss who endures a bad spell of form with his club is the next person to appear on the sack list with the bookies and Mourinho at Chelsea is no different.

“It looks as though Mourinho is trying his best to dismantle all of that (Chelsea’s success at the back end of last season) because of he is still bearing a grudge against Benitez. That might be the real problem,” he goes on.

Rafa Benitez and Jose Mourinho are different managers who like their sides to play in different ways.
Mourinho’s success all over Europe hasn’t been enabled because he’s come in, shaken up the establishment and banged heads together.

In each case; Porto, Chelsea the first time, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, he’s done exactly the same thing and gone through the exact same process of building a side which has subsequently gone on to be a success.
It’s too early to judge and critics like this may well eat their words by next summer.
