Eaglets ready for Sweden — Manu
After
overcoming a difficult Uruguay side in Saturday’s quarterfinal match at
the Sharjah FC Stadium, Golden Eaglets’ coach, Manu Garba, is already
looking ahead of their semifinal clash against Sweden on Tuesday.
The Swedes, debutants in the
competitions, are the only sides that have held the Eaglets in the
tournament. Both sides played a 3-3 draw in their group stage meeting
but Manu says the semifinal rematch will be a different ball game.
“I want to congratulate the boys for a
job well done today (Saturday) against Uruguay; Sweden should be ready
for our fireworks in the semi-final match on Tuesday. We learnt so much
playing against Sweden the last time but we will be ready for them this
time around,” he said.
With African champions Cote d’Ivoire out
of the competition after losing 2-1 to Argentina in an earlier match
played at the same stadium, Manu said, “It is unfortunate that our
African brothers, Cote d’Ivoire are already out of the tournament but
we are going to fly the flag of the continent very well since so
much is expected from us .”
