Liverpool are set to offer striker Luis Suarez a new £200,000-a-week long-term contract, according to the Daily Mail.

Suarez, 26, has two-and-a-half years left to run on his current deal but had been linked with a move away from Anfield in the summer, with Arsenal making a number of bids for the Uruguayan.
The striker, who missed the start of the season through serving the remainder of a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic, has scored 14 goals in 10 appearances, including a four-goal haul against Norwich City on Wednesday.

Suarez’s aim is to be playing Champions League football, something of which has not been on offer at the Merseyside club for the last few years, however, with Liverpool currently sitting second in the Premier League, the former Ajax forward is keen to remain with the Reds.

Along with a substantial pay rise, the report claims that Suarez’s contract would include a release clause that could only be triggered by a world record transfer fee – meaning that an offer that exceeds the £85 million Real Madrid paid Tottenham for Gareth Bale would have to be made to prise the Uruguay international away from Anfield.
