Jamie Carragher criticises Liverpool’s ‘terrible’ performance & result at Hull
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher criticises his old side's "terrible" performance and result in a 3-1 loss to Hull City
Jamie Carragher criticised Liverpool’s terrible performance and result after the Reds suffered a 3-1 loss at Hull City.
The Tigers edged to victory courtesy of strikes from Jake Livermore and David Meyler – as well as a Martin Skrtel own goal – after Steven Gerrard had levelled in the first half.Liverpool have now fallen seven points behind Premier League pace-setters Arsenal ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Norwich City, and Carragher wasn’t impressed by his former side’s display.
“It was a terrible performance and a terrible result,” Carragher told Sky Sports News.
“The only good thing is they’ve got a game against Norwich City on Wednesday now.
“They can go straight into that and try and get this [Hull] game out of their system quickly.”
Rodgers admitted Liverpool were made to pay for “too many mistakes”.
“I thought we had plenty of effort and commitment but there were too many mistakes and with the ball we didn’t create enough,” Rodgers said.
“It was a disappointing result all round. Our confidence was high, but we did not pass the ball well, we got back into it with Stevie’s free-kick, but we had plenty of possession with no real penetration.
“There is no doubt that we miss a player of Daniel Sturridge’s quality and we do not have a squad that is big enough to cope with his absence.
“We cannot dwell on it too much but we now have two games at home and need to kick on but we have to be better than we were today and we will look to do that on Wednesday.”
