Arsenal news: Fergie retirement has buoyed Wenger
The Gunners’ 2-0 victory over Liverpool on Saturday has all but ended talk that their favourable run of fixtures so far this campaign has led to their rise to the top of the table and confirmed Arsenal’s place as serious title contenders.
Arsene Wenger’s men are playing full of confidence and have now won eight of their ten Premier League games this term.
Wenger signed Mesut Ozil on transfer deadline day and the German international has contributed in a big way to the Gunners’ excellent start to the season but sources close to the club have told now SportsDirect News that the Frenchman has felt rejuvenated since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Scot’s decision to end his managerial career came as no surprise to Wenger who believed his adversary was considering stepping down long before he made the news public but the confirmation has given the Frenchman a new lease of life
The 64-year-old has been waiting for Ferguson to retire for a number of years and is currently left without a replacement competitor as it remains to be seen if Jose Mourinho can have the same success at Chelsea as he did in his first spell at Stamford Bridge.
Wenger now feels he can take over Ferguson’s mantle as the best manager in the Premier League.
