Adnan Januzaj is ready to compete with Europe’s elite
Januzaj
The 18-year-old was not part of the squad for the first two games as he wasn’t able to be registered as a homegrown player and he was an unused substitute against Sociedad at Old Trafford but because of his blistering form, Moyes has indicated he could make his first European appearance this week.
“He’s definitely ready to play [in the Champions League],” Moyes said.
“He’s not got a problem. We’re trying to bring the boy along at the right pace if we can. He’s not tired and we’ve not seen any dips in form just now so I’m sure we’ll continue using him and he’ll definitely be in and around the squad.”
Januzaj played the full 90 minutes against Fulham at the weekend and showed no signs of losing the fantastic form that has seen him force his way into the United side.
Playing in Europe is on a completely different level but the style of Januzaj would be suited to it. Accomplished with the ball at his feet, Januzaj should not struggle to adapt to the new environment of European football.
Moyes has mentioned that he wants to make sure that Januzaj doesn’t suffer from burnout but giving Januzaj his Champions League debut will complete the package for him, something he richly deserves.
Last year, Nick Powell impressed in his Champions League debut away to Galatasaray and hopefully Januzaj can have a similar impact if Moyes puts him into the action at the San Sebastian on Tuesday.
