Sturridge injured for Chelsea and Spurs away ... but could be back for the derby

Daniel Sturridge Liverpool
Daniel Sturridge will not play against Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea after picking up ankle ligament damage.
This season at Anfield two men have been the sides biggest threat, SAS, Sturridge and Suarez. Daniel Sturridge however is now set to miss siv to eight weeks of the season after damaging ankle ligaments in training.

He left Melwood on crutches yesterday after slipping in training - and Brendan Rodgers had this to say on the matter:

"Daniel is probably going to be out six-to-eight weeks. It was something we thought was never going to be as serious as that, to be honest. He slipped over in training and we thought initially it was his toe. He got brought inside straight away and he was taken for a scan straight away and it showed he'd actually got a ligament strain.”

So what does that really mean to Liverpool - what games will he miss?

Well some pretty big ones in fact.
He is now out for two months at the most meaning he is likely to return for the Merseyside Derby at Anfield on the 28th January - meaning that he could play consecutive games against Everton but months apart.
And in that time period he could miss three massive games for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

They play Tottenham Hotspur on the 15th at White Hart Lane - a game he is absolutely sure to miss out on.
Then there is also a Boxing Day fixture against Manchester City that he would miss out on at The Etihad - and four days later the chance to get one over on his former club Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
These are three crucial away ties that could have a significant bearing on where Liverpool finish their campaign - and without Sturridge they will struggle to get the best result possible.

This is certainly an untimely injury for The Reds as the busy Christmas schedule comes up - and a real test of how strong their squad really is this season.
How badly will Liverpool miss Daniel Sturridge?
