David Moyes confirms his January transfer intentions to bring in new players who aren’t panic buys
This season, United’s under-performing and underwhelming squad has come under criticism from fans and pundits alike after a poor summer transfer window left it weak in comparison to our title rivals.
So it has proved as United currently sit 13 points behind Arsenal at the top of the table but despite the very poor start, Moyes has stood firm that he won’t be forced into buying players unless they are the right choices.
“In any transfer window you don’t want to be bringing in a full batch of players, so I think there’s a period of time that it takes,” he said.
“The last one was a difficult one after just joining the club, so we’ve got a window in January where, if we think if it’s right for the club, we’ll do so.
“If not, we’ll look again in the summer. This club is always looking to bring in the best talent and that won’t change.
“I don’t think I’ll feel under pressure personally to do it [buy in January] as I’ll try to do the right things.
“I tend to take my time and try to assess what are the best talents to bring in. You can see that from the players I brought in at Everton.”
‘Dithering Dave’ as he was known by Everton’s fans seems to have adopted the same mentality in England but in this scenario, United need to act fast and decisively in January. Rarely are United put in a position like this in the league and accordingly, we have to react as quickly as possible to help turn the situation around.
January has never been a transfer window where United have conducted a substantial amount of business but you feel that if United are to mount a title push in the second half of the season, they will need some new players in order to do so.
Do you think Manchester United will sign any new players in January?
