Carrick, Kagawa and Powell named in top 10 worst Manchester United midfielders in ridiculous article

1It is typical of papers to release articles looking at potential targets for United, especially after a loss, and some of the targets named are genuine contenders for strengthening in January but their list of the top ten ‘misfiring midfielders’ is mind boggling.
Marouane Fellaini, Nick Powell, Shinji Kagawa, Paul Pogba, Anderson, Owen Hargreaves, Park Ji Sung, Michael Carrick, Kleberson and Eric Djemba Djemba make up the list.
I’m not sure where to begin really.
Fellaini has played a grand total of ten times for United since his move from Everton in the summer. He has indeed been underwhelming but to try and place him on any list right now is pure conjecture and nothing more than a knee jerk reaction to his initial performances. Hopefully he recapture his Everton form sooner rather than later.
As for Nick Powell, you can count the number of times he has played for United on one hand. He hasn’t had the chance to prove himself yet so how can he be anywhere near the list? Away with Wigan on loan, he has done nothing but impress and looks like he will become a fine midfielder at Old Trafford.
Then there is Paul Pogba who never even got the chance to prove himself before he left for Juventus, where he has gone to show he far from a flop.
The list gets more ridiculous as you go down it but Michael Carrick’s inclusion is hard to fathom. Is this the same Carrick who was short-listed for United’s Player of the Year and named in the PFA Team of the Year last season? United have been thrown into crisis in his absence and it is a testament of how important he is to the side. Flop? United are a flop without him.
Kagawa may be settling in slowly but his place is unjust as is Park Ji Sung’s who was a brilliant player for United who made the difference in so many big games.
Inclusions for Owen Hargreaves, Anderson, Djemba Djemba, Kleberson are about the only correct ones on a list compiled by a national journalist who should, by trade, know what he is talking about. You’d get more sense out of a door knob.
