Arsenal are looking to reclaim top-spot with victory against Stoke City this afternoon. And the Gunners’ injury problems have eased slightly with the return of Mikel Arteta.
Having recovered from the thigh problem that delayed his start to the season, the Spaniard’s return is a welcome boost for a side still missing Santi Cazorla, Lukas Podolski, Tomas Rosicky and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Mark Hughes is unable to call on Glenn Whelan or Mark Muniesa due to injury.
Stoke are yet to win at Arsenal in the Premier League, although their form so far this season is in marked contrast to last year’s early struggles. Hughes has already overseen two Premier League victories; a feat Tony Pulis took 11 games to manage in his final campaign.
After their mightily impressive performance against Manchester City last time out, Stoke will go to the Emirates in good spirits. But with Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey in a rich vein of goal-scoring form, and with Mesut Ozil pulling the strings, the Potters will have to be at their very best to leave London with a point or three.
