Manchester United fans react on Twitter to West Brom defeat

David Moyes
Manchester United suffered their first home defeat and third defeat overall of this season against West Brom at Old Trafford.

United went into the match hoping for a positive performance following a dismal display against Manchester City in the Manchester derby.

David Moyes made several changes to his team with Phil Jones, Jonny Evans, Alexander Buttner, Nani, Anderson, Shinji Kagawa and Javier Hernandez all starting.

Kagawa in particular was an interesting selection as David Moyes has been under a lot of pressure from fans to play the Japanese midfielder with a distinct lack of creativity from the midfield this season.

It was a risky tactic to make so many changes when the natural urge should have been to go back to basics and ensure that the side ground out three points in any way possible this afternoon.
The issue now for United is how they turn this poor patch of form around.

There are going to be plenty of negative comments flying towards Moyes following this result especially as United had the ball for close to 60% of the time producing more efforts and shots on target from their opponents.

Manchester United 1-2 West Brom: Moyes oversees worst league start in 24 years
The recent #MoyesOut Twitter campaign will more than like resurface in the fall out of this defeat but the boss himself warned there would be further blows this season, as United move through a period of transition after the Sir Alex Ferguson era.

United are now in the bottom half of the table on seven points and in 12th position. It’s certainly not cloak and dagger just yet but the side are six points behind Spurs, five behind Arsenal, four behind Chelsea and three behind City.

They can’t afford for those gaps to increase much further and it’s important Moyes and the squad focuses quickly with an important Champions League match this week before a now very important visit to Sunderland next weekend.

Here is what United fans made of the performance from Twitter.
