Will Tottenham beat Manchester United and Arsenal to £1m 16-year-old?

Tottenham Hotspur Action
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to pay £1 million for Anderlecht teenager Youri Tielemans.
Tottenham have one of the best young squads of players in the country and a youth team which is the envy of several top sides up and down the country.

It’s no surprise that Tottenham get linked with a lot of young players, with Andre Villas-Boas showing great skill in investing in players who will form the spine of the side over several seasons to come.

One of the biggest, and potentially best, investments the North London club could make either this winter or next summer is the purchase of Anderlecht’s rising star Your Tielemans.

The 16-year-old has spent his entire career in Belgium with his current side and he’s started to create quite a fuss having appeared for the first team already and picking up two caps for the Belgian Under-21 side.
In fact he features regularly for Anderlecht with one start and three sub appearances this season in a side that sits fourth in Belgium’s top division.

The fee is well within the realms of what Tottenham can afford but it’s large in relation to his age and the way he would be used at Spurs.

Club claims to have signed Arsenal and Tottenham target Marica - but it is not Rayo Vallecano
It’s unlikely that he’d get anywhere near the Tottenham first team any time soon because of that youth and inexperience, equipped with the current talent of midfielders at the North London club.

However, he’s the latest to come from a line of very talented Belgian players in the current generation and his Under-21 caps suggest he’s playing at a level way beyond what’s expected from someone of his age.

It’s a gamble but if he blossoms into the sort of player that his potential suggests he can become, Tottenham will have a superb midfielder on their books, likely to make a huge profit if they ever move him on in the future.

It would also be a significant boost in terms of Tottenham’s standing in the Premier League because he’s a player that Manchester United, Manchester City and more significantly Arsenal took a look at earlier this month.

Those sides seemed to be put off by the asking price, but will Tottenham?
Worth £1 million? What do you think?
