Manchester City weekend round-up: Summer signing admits missing previous club and post-match reaction
All the news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad this weekend…
Manchester City’s 3-1 victory at home to Everton temporarily sent them into the top four, only to see today’s results push them back out again.Bur Manuel Pellegrini will be pleased with the result given that Everton were undefeated in the league up until yesterday.
Romelu Lukaku put the Tofffees ahead, only for Alvaro Negredo, Sergio Aguero and a bit of luck following a saved penalty to give City all three points.
Following the match, Pellegrini told Sky Sports he was pleased with the character his team showed.
“I was very pleased for a lot of things,” he said. “We played the only unbeaten team in the Premier League and a team that plays very well with the ball, so it was not an easy game.
“What happened last Wednesday always has a consequence physically and mentally on the team, so that’s why I am very pleased with the character the team showed.”
Given that City received something of a footballing lesson at the hands of Bayern Munich last week, it was admirable how they put that behind them to overcome a side who will win far more than they lose this season.

And finally, summer singing Fernandinho has revealed that he gets lonely at times, as he is the only Brazilian in the City squad.
Speaking to the Sunday People, the midfielder said, “When I was at Shakhtar I had Brazilian teammates, and I used to spend time with them, but here I’m alone. So yes, I miss Ukraine sometimes.”
Given his previous problems with homesickness, City fans may have feared Jesus Navas would suffer following his move from Spain. But it appears to be a Brazilian who still has some acclimatising to do – not that you could tell from his performances so far.
