Spanish starlet snubbed summer switch to Liverpool

Barcelona youngster Cristian Tello has revealed he snubbed the opportunity to move to Liverpool this summer, according to the Metro.
The highly-rated 22-year-old was the subject of interest from Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, but has revealed he opted to stay and fight for his place at the Nou Camp.
The attacker featured 29 times for the Catalan giants last season, but remains behind the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Pedro Rodriguez, Ibrahim Afellay and new signing Neymar in the pecking order.
Liverpool found themselves linked with a host of attacking talent throughout the summer before eventually signing Victor Moses on a season-long-loan from Chelsea on deadline day.
Brendan Rodgers received public knock backs in his pursuits of Henrikh Mkhitaryan who opted to join Borussia Dortmund, Diego Costa who opted to stay at Atletico Madrid, and Willian who opted to join Chelsea via a medical at Tottenham. And now Tello has revealed he was the latest player to reject the Reds advances this summer.
“I always wanted to stay here,” he said.
“The coach has confidence in me, I’m happy and ready to play.
“I knew that Liverpool were interested in me, but I never thought about leaving.”
Tello starred for the Spanish under-21 side that won the European Championships in style this summer, further increasing Liverpool’s desire to sign him on a loan deal.
He has so far made two substitute appearances for Barcelona this season.
