Fellaini sends a message to Ronaldo and thanks United fans for the wigs
Marouane Fellaini has settled straight into life at Old Trafford since making his move from Everton on transfer deadline day.
He made his full Manchester United debut
in the 4-2 Champions League victory on Tuesday and put in a performance
that has earned him plenty of plaudits for what was a disciplined and
well rounded game.
And ahead of the first Manchester derby
of the season this weekend, he thanked all of United’s players for
helping him settle down so quickly at the club where he already feels at
home.
“It is different here, compared to Everton, and everything is in place to help me improve as a player,’ Fellaini told the Daily Mail.
“I am surrounded by better players, with
more quality and better technique, and they have also demonstrated how
much they care about me settling in quickly.
“They have gone to the trouble of spending time with me and offering advice, talking through any questions I wanted answering.
“The experienced players have been great
with me, but others have played a part as well. They all have, and I
appreciate it. It has helped me feel at home.”
Fellaini also sent a message to
Cristiano Ronaldo to tell him that he is missing out if he doesn’t
return to Old Trafford and sent his thanks to United fans for wearing
Fellaini wigs, admitting it fills him with confidence at the club.
“If Ronaldo has made it clear he won’t be coming here, that’s just too bad for him!” he continued.
“I feel great at this club, and when I
see supporters turning up for games wearing a (Fellaini) wig, it makes
me feel even better.
“It is funny to see that, but very
pleasing as well. It makes me want to do all I can for them on the
pitch, and that’s what I will do.”
So far, Fellaini has done all the right
things at United but his biggest test will come on Sunday. For the first
time in a recent derby, United will have someone able to physically
match up to Yaya Toure who has bossed us every time he has played us.
It will be a new edge to the derby that
should make it a much tighter affair but on what will be a fiery day
filled with tension and temper, Fellaini will have to continue to hold
his discipline and not get sucked into the occasion.
He has already shown that he can do that
and with him in the side on Sunday, United have a real chance of coming
away from the Etihad with a good result.
Everyone – get your Fellaini wigs out…
