Cardiff City |
1-2 | Newcastle |
He scored his first league goal in nine months for Cardiff City last Saturday, though it was scant consolation for the Bluebirds as they lost the second consecutive home game.
But the Nigerian would have been glad to get another chapter started as he hopes to get back to the level that he attained three years ago when he won the Player of the Month award twice in one season.
Odemwingie had also helped the newly promoted side achieve their first away win with a 2-1 win over Fulham though he may have to score as much as 15 goals to keep his team in the Premiership.
Congratulations to Peter Odemwingie Goal.com's Nigeria Player of the Week winner! |
The Shortlist
Vincent Enyeama - Lille The Super Eagles numero uno is in supreme shape as he kept another clean sheet for Lille against Ajaccio in Ligue 1. That made it six clean sheets in nine league matches. Though he is getting his chance in a top rated later in his career, he seems to be ready to make it count and we will not be surprised if he continues in this form that the Premier League sides might eventually come calling. |
|
Lukman Haruna - Dynamo Kiev The Dynamo Kiev has continued to churn out good performances for his side and scored his third league goal last weekend as Dynamo went goals-wire. Haruna is waiting for a recall to the Super Eagles having played for all the national teams. |
|
Manir Ubale - Kano Pillars Ubale scored the goal that has thrust Kano Pillars into the lead in the Nigeria Premier Football League with three weeks to go. Ubale scored very late for Pillars in Lokoja on Tuesday in the replayed match between Pillars and Enyimba and could just be the goal that will see the defending champions retain the league shield. |
