Juventus’ general director Giuseppe
Marotta believes Manchester United are right to be afraid that Adnan
Januzaj’s has similarities to Paul Pogba’s before he joined Juventus.
Marotta also admitted that the signing
of Januzaj would be ‘incredible’ for Juventus as an indication that they
might be looking to try and get Januzaj to follow Pogba to Turin.
When questioned about Januzaj, Marotta said: “Manchester United fear another Paul Pogba case? They are right to do so.
“Frankly, I do not understand how they
have got to within eight months of the contract expiry datee without
being able to negotiate a new one.”
This is Juventus’ first attempt to try
and unsettle Januzaj but it likely won’t be the last. Thankfully, the
18-year-old is surrounded by a strong family who don’t take much notice
of what the press is saying but the longer negotiations continue, the
more United fans are worried that he could potentially leave.
The Italian media are also reporting that Marotta approached Januzaj once before he joined us in 2011.
It was a bitter pill to swallow when Juventus signed Pogba but the thought of Januzaj joining him in Italy is even worse.
Contract negotiations have picked up
pace after his performance against Sunderland and with a lot of clubs in
Europe sniffing around, the sooner United can tie Januzaj down on a
long term deal the better.
