Silva, Aguero to face Bayern Munich

David
Silva and Sergio Aguero are set to make their Manchester City
comebacks in Wednesday’s Champions League game against Bayern Munich.
Spain international Silva has missed
City’s last five games with a thigh injury, while Argentina forward
Aguero has not featured since scoring twice in the 4-1 derby win over
Manchester United because of a minor knock.
But both took part in training at the
Etihad Stadium on Tuesday morning and manager Manuel Pellegrini
confirmed they are in contention to take on the European champions.
“David is in the squad. I think he can play at least some minutes,” Pellegrini said. “Sergio is fit and he is also on the list.”
The long-term absentee Martin Demichelis
and Jack Rodwell were the only players to miss training, meaning
Pellegrini has virtually a full-strength squad to pick from.
He hopes his team will bounce back after
Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa, adding, “I always expect a big
response from the players.”
City began their Champions League
campaign with a 3-0 win over Viktoria Plzen and Pellegrini has vowed to
go for a victory against Bayern.
He said, “For me it was very important
to win the first three points we played against Viktoria Plzen. The
second thing is to try and win our points here at home. Bayern are a
very strong team but we are also in a very good moment.
“We never think about a draw. Of course
if we cannot win, it is better to draw than lose. We will go from the
first minute to try and win the three points.”
