Manchester United starlet in international demand
Roy Hodgson has confirmed his interest in Manchester United starlet Adnan Januzaj, reports the Daily Mail.
The England manager, who appeared on BBC’s ‘Match of the Day’ on Saturday evening, was impressed by the 18-year-old’s performance against Sunderland earlier that day.
Januzaj, who was born in Belgium, scored twice to help his side comeback from a goal down to beat struggling Sunderland 2-1, and get David Moyes his 3rd league win as Manchester United boss.
When asked by Gary Lineker whether the youngster could play for England one day, Hodgson replied: “Yeah down the line if he becomes naturalised or if he becomes a homegrown product.”
“There’s no doubt that he’s a real talent and we have our eyes on him but a lot will have to be discussed.”
Januzaj has a host of options in front of him, with the 18-year-old eligible to play for Belgium, Albania, Turkey or Serbia. But due to FIFA regulations, the United starlet would need to have lived in England for 5 years after his 18th birthday, meaning he wouldn’t be available until 2018.
Hodgson appeared on the show ahead of England’s vital World Cup Qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland next week. Victory in both matches would secure the nation’s place in Rio for 2014 as group winners.

The Three Lions face Montenegro on Friday, before playing Poland on Tuesday, with both matches kicking off at 8pm at Wembley.
