Lagos to host Nike race

Equipment Company, Nike’s We Run series will hold in Lagos on November
16. The race is being held in conjunction with the Lagos State
Government.
It will be the first time the race is
holding in Nigeria; with Lagos being the 16th city out of 26 where the
race is billed to hold.
The Head of Operations for Nike in
Nigeria, Keith Lewins, said at the unveiling of the logo in Lagos on
Friday, “The runners will be part of a global We Run race movement and
will see a total of 350,000 anticipated runners in 2013, take over 3bn
strides during the course of We Run race series.”
The 10km race will begin from the Onikan
Stadium through the Eko Bridge and will terminate at the Teslim Balogun
Stadium, Surelere.
Lagos State Commissioner for Sports Mr. Enitan Oshodi assured that everything was in place to make the event a success.
The first 100 finishers will be rewarded
with Nike shoes. The last 10 finishers will also get Nike shoes.
Registration for the race is free and will begin November 1.
