André Villas-Boas has shown “immaturity” in the Tottenham manager’s recent dealings with the media, according to Sam Allardyce.

The Spurs boss hit out at a number of journalists in his post-match news conference after his side’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United on Sunday.
It came after the Portuguese coach was on the receiving end of some negative press following Tottenham’s 6-0 thrashing by Manchester City as they stuttered to back-to-back league defeats.

And West Ham United boss Allardyce has questioned Villas-Boas’ approach to dealing with the situation.
“He’s just showed a little bit of immaturity,” Allardyce told talkSPORT. “It can get under your skin but you can’t let that happen because you’re not going to win.

“It’s much better to keep your powder dry. I admire him for having a go but I don’t think it will do you any favours in the end, unfortunately.
“You have to use the criticism as a motivational drive to show these people that they’re wrong.
“You’ve got to take it on the chin. You and your players have got to do your talking on the field.”
