Potters vow to keep star man

Stoke chairman Peter Coates says the Potters have no intention of selling their best players in the January transfer window.
Asmir Begovic continues to be linked with a move to Manchester City but Coates is determined to keep hold and is unaware of the latest speculation linking the keeper with a move to the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini played down reports suggesting he was lining up a January swoop for Begovic, and now Coates has done the same.

"We're not looking to sell our best players - but this is news to me," he said of the link to City. "We have a new manager and this is a very important season for us."

There is a good chance Begovic could move at the end of the season, but for now the Potters are determined to keep hold.
